This one didn’t start pretty for Dallas, but by the end, Wings took control of the game.

Down double digits early, the Wings found their rhythm behind Jessica Shepard, who had a performance that touched every part of the game. The forward got the first triple-double of the WNBA season and just the second of her career finishing with 18 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in a 99-89 comeback win over the Chicago Sky on Wednesday night.

Shepard was pushing the pace, creating for teammates, and cleaning the glass. She showed up for Dallas when they needed her most.

Still, this game turned in the fourth quarter, and that’s when Arike Ogunbowale took over.

After the Sky cut the deficit to three with just over two minutes left, Arike came right back with a three-pointer that quieted the push then followed it with another dagger less than a minute later. Eleven of her 23 points came in that final run, and each bucket felt like a response.

Paige Bueckers led all Wings scorers with 24 points, continuing to look comfortable in Dallas’ system, while rookie Azzi Fudd added 12 matching her early-season scoring mark and growing more confident by the game.

But the real shift came in the third quarter.

Shepard started the run by putting up eight points, six rebounds, and five assists in the period alone. The Wings had 34 points in the 3rd quarter which was their highest-scoring quarter this season shooting nearly 70% from the field and turning a tight game into a 71-64 advantage heading into the fourth.

Chicago had its moments. Kamilla Cardoso was a force inside, finishing with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Natasha Cloud added 21 points and eight boards in a strong all-around effort. But without leading scorer Rickea Jackson who was sidelined after a season ending ACL injury the Sky couldn’t quite match Dallas run.

After building an early 11-point lead behind a hot start, Chicago simply couldn’t hold it.

And for Dallas, this win meant more than just another mark in the standings.

It snapped a six-game losing streak against the Sky and showed what this group can look like when its stars align and its playmakers take control.

Next up, the Wings head to Atlanta looking to build on the momentum, while Chicago returns home searching for answers and stability in a season that just took a difficult turn.
