The Las Vegas Aces have added another elite guard to their roster, signing 5‑9 ball‑handler Chennedy Carter to a training camp contract, the team announced today.
Carter brings a scoring presence and international skills that could give the Aces a useful spark off the bench. The former No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft began her pro career with the Atlanta Dream, where she averaged 17.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists in her rookie season and earned a spot on the WNBA All‑Rookie Team. Across 84 career games with Atlanta, Los Angeles and the Chicago Sky, she is averaging 14.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Before the W, Carter was one of the most explosive and versatile players in college basketball. At Texas A&M from 2017 to 2020, she earned back‑to‑back All‑American honors and was named the 2018 USBWA National Freshman of the Year, building a reputation as a fearless scorer and shot‑maker. Her professional ambition has kept her on the court nearly year‑round, with stops in China, Israel, Mexico, Poland and Turkey, giving her experience on high‑level international stages.
Carter is also a decorated national team player, with three medals for USA Basketball: gold at the 2016 FIBA U18 AmeriCup, silver at the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup and silver at the 2019 Pan American Games. That mix of USA Basketball experience, overseas grind and WNBA background gives her a distinct profile as the Aces look to reload around their championship core.
For Las Vegas, the move is less about a name recognition headline and more about adding a versatile guard who can handle the rock, create her own shot and provide depth in a loaded backcourt. If Carter earns her way onto the final roster, the Aces will have one more dangerous scorer ready to light up the biggest stage in women’s basketball.
