On Monday night, the Dallas Wings defeated the Washington Mystics 92–69 behind an all-around performance and their guards stepping up big.
Paige Bueckers put on a great performance with 18 points and seven assists, showing poise and efficiency while knocking down 4 of 5 shots from beyond the arc. Rookie standout Azzi Fudd added a season-high 12 points off the bench, giving Dallas a spark that helped shift momentum early and sustain it throughout.
Arike Ogunbowale contributed 16 points, while Jessica Shepard controlled the paint with a dominant all-around performance 12 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists. Shepard’s rebounding total matched the league’s single-game high this season, showing Dallas’ strength and presence at both ends of the floor.
The Wings (2–2) capitalized on Washington’s mistakes, converting 18 turnovers into 23 points and building a lead that went up to as many as 25. After a competitive first half, Dallas broke the game open with a decisive 19–6 run to close the third quarter, pushing the score to 66–46. They carried that momentum into the fourth, scoring seven of the first nine points to put the game out of reach.
Dallas is starting to look more comfortable together, finishing with 20-plus assists for the third time in four games as the ball moved well and the team played with better rhythm. Maddy Siegrist added 10 points off the bench, giving Dallas another lift and showing how much value the team is getting from its bench.
For Washington (2–2), Shakira Austin led the way with 12 points, while Lauren Betts chipped in 11 off the bench. Kiki Iriafen added nine points and 10 rebounds, but the Mystics struggled to maintain consistency against Dallas’ defensive pressure and fast-paced scoring runs.
With their first home win secured, the Wings now turn their focus to a three-game road trip beginning Wednesday in Chicago. Meanwhile, the Mystics head west to face the Seattle Storm in back-to-back matchups starting Sunday, looking to regroup after a difficult game.
