Paige Bueckers scored 18 of her 32 points in the first quarter, and the Dallas Wings beat the Seattle Storm 92-70 on Sunday to match the franchise record for single-season victories.
Dallas improved to 22-16 and can secure a playoff berth with a win over Portland on Tuesday.
Bueckers took over immediately, making seven of eight shots in the opening quarter and going 4-for-4 from 3-point range. The Wings built a 34-17 lead after 10 minutes and never allowed Seattle to seriously threaten in the second half.
Jessica Shepard finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for Dallas, which shot 50% from the field, made 11 of 23 3-pointers and went 15-for-17 at the free-throw line.
Seattle closed the first half with a 14-0 run, holding Dallas scoreless for more than four minutes. The Storm still trailed 56-35 at halftime.
Flau’jae Johnson matched her career high with five 3-pointers and scored 23 points for Seattle. Jade Melbourne added 15 points, and Dominique Malonga had 12.
The Storm fell to 7-31 with their third straight loss and 14th in 15 games.
Dallas played without Azzi Fudd, who was out with a knee injury, and Aziaha James, who missed the game with a leg injury. Seattle’s Natisha Hiedeman was sidelined by a shoulder injury.
The Wings host Portland on Tuesday. The Storm host Toronto on Wednesday.
