Kiki Iriafen had 21 points and 14 rebounds, Shakira Austin added 20 points and 10 boards, and the Washington Mystics beat the Indiana Fever 93-77 on Sunday to move within one game of Indiana in the standings.
Washington improved to 26-16 with two regular-season games remaining. The Mystics are one of three teams sitting one game behind the fifth-place Fever, who fell to 27-15.
Sonia Citron finished with 16 points and nine assists for Washington. Georgia Amoore added 11 points and hit three 3-pointers.
The Mystics took control early, opening the game on a 34-19 run through the first quarter. They led by as many as 26 points in the first half and carried a 51-30 advantage into the break.
Indiana made a push in the third quarter, scoring 31 points after being held to 30 in the first half. But Washington remained in front 77-61 entering the fourth and never allowed the Fever to make it a one-possession game.
Caitlin Clark scored a game-high 25 points and handed out five assists for Indiana. Kelsey Mitchell added 22 points.
The Fever’s All-WNBA backcourt had a difficult afternoon from the field. Clark and Mitchell combined to shoot 14-for-40 overall and 6-for-20 from 3-point range.
Aliyah Boston scored seven points on 3-for-8 shooting after dealing with foul trouble. Indiana’s bench did not score until Raven Johnson hit a jumper with 4:35 left in the third quarter.
Washington hosts Connecticut on Tuesday. Indiana begins a home-and-home series against the league leading Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday.
