The Dallas Wings are starting to look like a team that has figured something out and they’re making it hard for anyone to slow them down.
Behind scoring and playmaking, Dallas pulled away late to secure a 104-96 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night, extending their winning streak to four and continuing one of the strongest starts in franchise history.
Arike Ogunbowale led the charge with 30 points, knocking down six shots from beyond the arc and delivering in key moments. Paige Bueckers had a all-around performance, finishing with 18 points and a career-high 14 assists, tying a franchise record while orchestrating the offense with precision.
Jessica Shepard dominated the interior with a career-best 22 points and 15 rebounds, adding five assists. Maddy Siegrist provided a fourth-quarter spark, scoring 10 of her 16 points, including a late putback that helped seal the game. Azzi Fudd added 11 as the Wings continued to showcase their depth.
Dallas’ ball movement stood out once again, surpassing 25 assists for the fourth time this season a sign of a team that’s increasingly in sync. Even Ogunbowale, known for her scoring, contributed six assists in a all around offensive effort.
The game remained tight throughout, with Los Angeles holding a slim halftime lead after a last-second Bueckers jumper was waved off following review. The Sparks were led by Kelsey Plum’s 27 points in her return from injury, while Ariel Atkins, Dearica Hamby, and Nneka Ogwumike all contributed in double figures. Still, Dallas’ late-game execution proved decisive.
After the game, Wings head coach reflected on the team’s offensive growth and overall evolution over the past month.
“I don’t know, I felt pretty good after the first time we played we put up 107. I go, ‘This is gonna be fun,’” he said. “But I think the offensive end of the floor the way that we shared and shoot it, and our guys now understanding that we want to have that every possession these are very important.”
He also emphasized that the team’s progress isn’t just about scoring.
“But we find a way to get better defensively in the second half. Kelsey Plum is just so hard to guard because she gets downhill, she gets to her spot, she creates space. So we just gotta continue to get better defensively guarding one-on-one once the ball gets by us, where help’s gotta come from, and be solid on the glass.”
He added that winning in Los Angeles brings its own challenges.
“LA is a great atmosphere, tough place to win especially on the road, and the way they came out and shot it in the first quarter.”
With a 7-3 record and wins in six of their last seven games, the Wings are building momentum that feels sustainable. The combination of elite shot-making, unselfish play, and growing defensive awareness is beginning to separate them from other teams.
Dallas now turns its attention to a road matchup against Minnesota, while Los Angeles looks to regroup at home against Portland.
