The Mystics put together one of their more complete performances of the season in a 90–72 win over Chicago, leaning on physical play and steady scoring to take control early and build from there. Shakira Austin led the way with 17 points, while Kiki Iriafen quietly handled business with 15 points and 11 rebounds, marking another double-double in her growing résumé.
From the opening half, Washington made its presence felt on the glass. Austin and Iriafen set the tone inside, helping the Mystics dominate the boards and create second-chance opportunities that Chicago struggled to match. That effort translated directly to the scoreboard, with Washington shooting efficiently and heading into halftime with momentum.
The separation came after the break. Washington tightened up defensively and dominated offensively, stretching the lead with a strong third quarter. By the time the fourth rolled around, the Mystics were in full control, dictating tempo and forcing Chicago to play catch-up.
It wasn’t just the starters carrying the load. Washington’s bench showed up in a meaningful way, adding depth and energy that kept the pressure on. Michaela Onyenwere chipped in with double-digit scoring, while the bench contributed across the board to maintain the team’s rhythm.
Chicago, meanwhile, had bright spots but couldn’t sustain consistency. Kamilla Cardoso filled the stat sheet with a well-rounded performance, and Sydney Taylor provided a spark off the bench. But extended stretches of uneven offense and being outworked on the boards made it difficult to close the gap.
Washington also made the most of its chances at the line, staying aggressive and turning those opportunities into points. That attention to detail, combined with their rebounding advantage, helped separate them as the game wore on.
For the Mystics, this was less about a single standout moment and more about a collective approach clicking into place. Playing this way, they dictate how the game goes from start to finish.
